Icelandic Horses fall through ice. Sometimes people do really dumb stuff.

As a horse lover I find it amazing that all these riders would risk riding there horses on a frozen lake without checking to see how thick the ice is. I feel so sorry that those poor horses had to go through that ordeal & thank God the iceman jumped in to save them. What a courageous man."

How can you be a hero, when you're the one who put the horses into this situation to begin with? I'm glad someone saved them though, it would have been better if it never happened.
Maybe it will get the point across that's it's not too smart to ride horses on ice, thin or not
The ice WAS checked by experts, and of course the riders trusted them.
They are not bad horseowners just because an accident happened, and it can happen to everyone. Luckily, so many people loved the horses, and jumped in to save them.

It isn't the fact that the horses are on ice that bothers me, but the poor planning. Even if they did check the ice, they should have checked it better. Shame on them. I don't think they're bad people, but a bit of wisdom in this situation would be nice.
